Newly Posted Teachers Cry for Staff IDs and Salaries – Gh Edu Pro
Newly posted teachers from the 2024 batch of Colleges of Education in Ghana are facing serious challenges. Since they were posted eight months ago, they have not received their salaries. The main reason for this delay is that their staff IDs have not been released.
Why Is This a Problem?
Staff IDs are very important for teachers because, without them, they cannot be added to the government payroll. This means they will not receive their monthly salaries.
These teachers are frustrated and struggling. They say:
- Some of their colleagues have received their salaries, but they have not.
- They have been teaching for eight months without pay.
- They are tired of waiting while working hard in their schools.
- They blame the delay on the negligence of officers in charge of processing their staff IDs.
The affected teachers are calling on the government and responsible authorities to take action immediately. They demand:
- The release of their staff IDs.
- Payment of all their salary arrears.
The teachers say they cannot continue to work under these difficult conditions. They have started a campaign called “Operation Release All Staff IDs and Pay All Arrears” to draw attention to their problem.
It is unfair for teachers to work for several months without pay. The government and education authorities must listen to their concerns and act quickly. If nothing is done, it may affect the quality of teaching in schools, as these teachers are becoming discouraged.
