President mahama Appoints Eight-Member Team to Plan National Education Forum – Gh Edu Pro
President John Dramani Mahama has appointed an eight-member committee to organize the National Education Forum. The committee, chaired by former Pro Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast, Professor George K. T. Oduro, has been given just two weeks to submit its report and plan.
The other members of the committee include:
- Professor Goski Alabi
- Professor Rosemary Bosu
- Samuel Awuku, Ph.D.
- Professor Smile Dzisi
- Kofi Asare
- Stephen Owusu
- Inusah Shiraz
Key Objectives of the Forum
The appointed planning committee has been given clear Terms of Reference (TOR) to guide their work. The forum aims to bring together key stakeholders in Ghana’s education sector to deliberate on critical issues and propose actionable policies.
According to a statement signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Acting Spokesperson to the President, the committee is expected to:
- Develop a theme and sub-themes to guide stakeholder engagement.
- Identify key stakeholders, including students, parents, teachers (both pre-tertiary and tertiary), private sector actors, researchers, civil society organizations, development partners, religious bodies, and political parties.
- Develop a stakeholder activity agenda with time allocations for thematic breakout sessions and plenaries.
- Propose a suitable venue and date(s) for the forum.
- Set up a secretariat to document activities.
- Provide a budget for the National Education Forum.
- Develop a comprehensive report detailing findings and recommendations.
- Draft a National Education Policy Framework and propose an action plan for implementing recommendations within three weeks after the forum.
- Consider any other relevant issues concerning the organization of the forum.
