Excerpts from the 29th TTAG Day Celebration at Savannah College of Education – Gh Edu Pro
The 29th TTAG Day Celebration took place at Savannah College of Education, bringing together teacher trainees from across the country. This annual event served as a platform to reflect on the progress of the Teacher Trainees’ Association of Ghana (TTAG) and to renew efforts toward improving education and welfare in Colleges of Education.
A Call for Better Conditions in Colleges of Education
During the event, the leadership of TTAG emphasized the need for unity in advocating for better social and academic conditions in Public Colleges of Education. “Now more than ever, we must join together in all our campuses to demand for better social and academic conditions in the Colleges of Education, as these would definitely translate into increased academic performance and a general advancement of teacher education,” the leadership stated.

Achievements Over the Years
Reflecting on the journey of TTAG over the past 29 years, the leadership highlighted key accomplishments. “Our association has travelled very far for the past 29 years in the fulfillment of our core objectives enshrined in our Constitution as reviewed in 2022,” a statement read.

The association has been actively engaging in academic and leadership programs such as:
- Writing challenges
- Quiz competitions
- Debate competitions
- Women empowerment programs
- Academic fairs
Supporting Colleges with Water Polytanks
TTAG has also undertaken initiatives to support colleges with essential resources. One of these is the donation of water polytanks to various Colleges of Education. “In our efforts to help in the development of colleges, we began the donation of water polytanks to Public Colleges of Education, including McCoy College of Education and Bia Lamplighter College of Education, among others, across the country,” the leadership stated.
As part of this year’s celebration, Savannah College of Education received a Rambo 1000 water polytank to assist in addressing water storage challenges faced by students.
Recognizing Outstanding Contributions
TTAG also used the occasion to honor individuals who have significantly contributed to the growth and development of the association. “Today we equally recognize the excellent contributions of individuals who have played significant roles in strengthening our association since its establishment in February 1996,” the leadership acknowledged

Upcoming Programs for Teacher Trainees
Looking ahead, TTAG has lined up several activities, including a National Secretariat Pedagogy Quiz Competition. The leadership encouraged all member colleges to participate. “In the coming weeks and months, we shall be organizing various activities, including a maiden National Secretariat Pedagogy Quiz Competition. I would be more than happy to see Savannah College of Education and all our member colleges participating for the national championship,” a speaker stated.

The leadership of TTAG extended their sincere gratitude to all teacher trainees who participated in the celebration. Their involvement and commitment to the association’s vision were highly appreciated.
