The Ghana Education Service (GES) has released the official harmonized prospectus for all boarding and day students for the 2025/2026 academic year. This list shows the items every new SHS boarder is expected to bring to school.

This prospectus has been made simple and uniform so that parents, guardians, and students can prepare without confusion.

 Items for Students

Here are the personal items each student must bring:

• Hard body suitcase or trunk
• Chop box (wooden or plastic)
• Drinking cup (plastic or stainless steel)
• Plate and cutlery set
• Toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, soap, tissue roll, pomade, sanitary pads for girls)
• Decent sandals (school specific, no decorations)
• Leather slippers (school specific)
• Sneakers (black or white)
• 2 pairs of socks (school specific)
• Pyjamas or sleepwear
• Underwear (5 pants & 3 vests for girls; 3 boxer shorts or pants & 3 singlets for boys)
• Plastic bucket with cover and pail
• Bible, Quran, or hymn book (school specific)
• Christian book (school specific)

Bedding & Clothing

• Pillow with mackintosh cover
• 2 white bedsheets with 2 pillowcases
• Blanket and sleeping cloth
• 1 pair khaki trousers
• 1 pair of white trousers (or school specific)
• White dress for ladies
• 2 white shirts (1 short sleeve & 1 long sleeve)
• 2 checked dresses (where applicable)
• Student-size mosquito net
• 1 school bag
• 1 mattress (if not provided by the school)
• Shoes (school-specific color)
• Belt (school-specific color)
• 1 hoe or cutlass

Learning Materials

• 1 mathematical set
• 1 scientific calculator

 Items for School

Each student must also buy items for the school. You only need to choose one group out of the options below:

Group 1

• 1 pair of hard hand gloves
• 5 liters of liquid soap
• 1kg of washing powder

Group 2

• 1 small bleach
• 1 dust pan
• 1 long handle broom
• 1 scrubbing brush

Group 3

• 1 standing mop with bucket
• 1 duster
• 1 short local broom

 Prospectus for Day Students

Items for the Students

Every day student is expected to come with the following:

• 1 Mathematical Set and a Scientific Calculator
• Decent Sandals (school specific, no decorations or embellishments)
• Decent Sneakers (black or white)
• 1 School Bag

These are the basic personal and learning items needed for daily classes.

Items for the School

In addition to personal items, students must provide cleaning materials. Each student should buy items from any one of the groups below:

Group 1

• 1 Pair of hard hand gloves
• 5 Litres of liquid soap
• 1kg Washing powdered soap

Group 2

• 1 Small-size bleach
• 1 Dust pan
• 1 Long handle broom
• 1 Scrubbing brush

Group 3

• 1 Standing mop and mop bucket
• 1 Duster
• 1 Short local broom

The new harmonized prospectus ensures fairness, equality, and uniformity across schools. Parents and guardians are encouraged to prepare early so students can begin the new academic year fully ready.
