Government Resolves CETAG Migration onto University Grades Structure – Gh Edu Pro

The Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) has released good news for members of the Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG). In a press statement issued on January 27, 2025, the FWSC shared progress regarding the migration of CETAG members onto the university grades structure.

Key Highlights of the Announcement:

Formation of a Migration Committee
To address CETAG’s concerns, the government created a Migration Committee on August 29, 2024. This committee included representatives from the FWSC, Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC), Ministry of Finance (MoF), Controller and Accountant-General’s Department (CAGD), Ministry of Education (MoE), and the National Conference of Principals of Colleges of Education (PRINCOF). The committee worked to ensure CETAG members were moved to the university grades structure.

1. Successful Migration of CETAG Members
The FWSC confirmed that CETAG members have now been fully migrated to the university grades structure. Payments to beneficiaries were made during the January 2025 payment window.

2. Research Allowance Payments
Research allowance top-ups have also been paid to all Colleges of Education. However, the Akrokerri College of Education is still being processed and will be resolved soon.

3. Appreciation for Stakeholders
The FWSC commended GTEC, MoF, CAGD, MoE, and PRINCOF for their dedication to resolving CETAG’s concerns.

Call for Normal Academic Activities

The government has urged CETAG to end its strike and allow normal academic activities to resume in the Colleges of Education. The FWSC reassured CETAG members that their concerns are being taken seriously and addressed.

This announcement is a major step toward ensuring harmony within Ghana’s education sector. Both CETAG members and stakeholders are encouraged to maintain open communication to resolve future issues collaboratively.
