Ketu North MP, Eric Edem Agbana, Awards GHC1.3M Scholarship to 302 Tertiary Students – Gh Edu Pro

Eric Edem Agbana, the Member of Parliament for Ketu North, has launched the Edem Agbana Scholarship Scheme, a program dedicated to helping brilliant but financially challenged students.
During the launch, he made a heartfelt commitment:“Becoming a Member of Parliament is not just about politics for me. It is a calling to serve, a divine mandate to uplift lives.”
The scholarship, worth GHC1.3 million, has already benefited 302 tertiary students. Among them:
- 22 students with special needs will have full tuition covered.
- 25 young women pursuing STEM programs have received full scholarships.
- Three students received laptops to aid their studies.
- The remaining students will get 60% to 80% funding.
Edem Agbana emphasized the program’s commitment to inclusivity:“I am particularly proud of the inclusivity within this cohort… ensuring that financial barriers do not hinder their educational pursuits.”
To keep this initiative running, the MP pledged 50% of his monthly salary and called for support from corporate sponsors and individuals. H.E. Gabriel Kwamegah-Atokple Tanko, a Council of State representative for the Volta Region, donated GHC100,000 to the cause.
At the launch event in Dzodze, Edem Agbana reassured students and parents that, “this scheme is dedicated to offering vital financial assistance to tertiary students from Ketu North, ensuring that financial challenges do not stand in the way of their educational dreams.”
Looking ahead, the scholarship will prioritize professional courses such as medicine, law, and engineering in the next academic year. The MP’s goal is clear, “In the next 10 to 15 years, I want Ketu North to produce some of Ghana’s finest professionals.”
With this bold initiative, Eric Edem Agbana is proving that leadership is about service and impact.
