Savannah College of Education Suspends All Teaching Activities Until Further Notice – Gh Edu Pro

The management of Savannah College of Education, Daboya, has suspended all teaching and teaching-related activities following student protests on campus. This decision was announced in a memo dated 4th March 2025, signed by the acting College Secretary on behalf of the Vice Principal.

According to the memo, tutors are advised to “stay away from campus and suspend all teaching-related activities until further notice from management.” The suspension comes as a response to students “blocking access to lecture halls and refusing to participate in lectures.”

The management is currently waiting for official communication from the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) regarding their readiness to resume academic work and ensure the safety of tutors. The college expects to receive this response by Wednesday, 5th March 2025.

“If we do not hear from them within this time-frame, management will communicate the next course of action,” the memo stated. Management also urged everyone to “remain calm as our leaders continue to strive to fulfill our wish.”

The memo ended by expressing appreciation for the understanding and patience of all stakeholders during this period.

This suspension affects tutors and all teaching activities on campus. Key college officials, including the Principal, Finance Officer, College Librarian, Internal Auditor, SRC President, Former SRC President, All Course Representatives, Chairman of CETAG, and Chairman of Staff Welfare, have been copied in the memo.

Students and tutors are now waiting for further updates from the college administration regarding when academic activities will resume.
