Students Loan Trust Fund modifies No-Fees-Stress application portal for students under 18

The Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) has made an important change to its No-Fees-Stress application portal. Now, students who are under 18 years old can also apply for support.
Before this update, younger students could not complete their applications because of a rule in Ghana that prevents people under 18 from opening bank accounts. This made it hard for them to access the support they needed.
But things have changed.
SLTF said in a statement on June 17, 2025:
“Our recent modification to the No-Fees-Stress portal addresses this hurdle.”

Now, students who are under 18 can log in to the application portal, select “No” when asked if they have a bank account, and then provide the names of their parents or guardians to continue the application.
This update is part of SLTF’s plan to help more students get financial support, especially those who might have been left out before. The organization explained:
“We are working to facilitate greater access to financial support for all tertiary students to ensure they can pursue their academic dreams without the burden of fees.”
Dr. Saajida Shiraz, CEO of the Students Loan Trust Fund, signed the official release and encouraged students and families to take advantage of the new update.
