NSS Personnel to Get Better Chance of Joining the Armed Forces – Defence minister

The Minister for Defence, Dr. Edward K. Omane Boamah, has shared some important news for National Service personnel in Ghana. According to him, those who go through a special 6-week military training will have a better chance of joining the Armed Forces after their service.
This update was made during the Government Accountability Series on July 21, 2025. Dr. Boamah said that the training will help NSS personnel get ready for military life and also increase their chances of getting selected if they want to join the Ghana Armed Forces.
The training is expected to build discipline, teamwork, leadership skills, and physical fitness – all of which are very important in the military. The 6-week military training is scheduled to begin next month, in August 2025.
All NSS personnel who wish to join the Armed Forces are encouraged to take this training seriously. It is not just an opportunity to learn new skills, but also a chance to prepare for a future career in the military.
This is good news for young people who are doing their National Service and are interested in joining the army, navy, or air force. By taking part in the training, they are not just serving the country during their one-year service, but also preparing for long-term employment in national security.
