Good News: Nursing and Teacher Trainee Allowances Paid Up to June – Says Finance Minister
In his mid-year budget review on Wednesday, 24th July 2025, the Finance Minister brought smiles to the faces of many teacher and nursing trainees across the country.
He announced that the government has fully paid all allowances for nursing and teacher trainees from January to June 2025.
“Mr. Speaker, I am pleased to inform this Honourable House that we have paid all nursing and teacher training allowances from January to June 2025,” he said during his presentation in Parliament.
This includes all levels of students currently in the Colleges of Education and Nursing Training Institutions.
Even more exciting is what he said next. Starting from July 2025, all trainees will now receive their allowances every month without delay.
“Right Honourable Speaker, beginning at the end of this month—July 2025—all nursing and teacher trainees will receive their allowances promptly at the end of every single month,” the Finance Minister assured.
However, as of today, teacher trainees have not yet received the money in their accounts. But based on the Minister’s statement, the funds have been released and trainees should begin to receive their allowances soon

This news brings hope and relief to many trainees who have been worried about delayed payments in recent months. Receiving the allowance on time every month will help trainees meet their basic needs, support their families, and focus more on their training.
As the Minister concluded his speech, he reminded everyone of the government’s commitment to supporting future health workers and teachers in the country.
