NTC Sends Strong Message to All GTLE Candidates

The National Teaching Council (NTC) has issued an important update to all candidates of the Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination (GTLE).

October 2025 will be the final opportunity for candidates who still have resit papers under the old GTLE system. After this date, the post-graduation licensure exam will no longer be available.

“Any candidate who is not successful in this final resit will have to start afresh by joining their colleagues in the teacher education institutions for their professional examination in 2026 and beyond,” — NTC stated

This means that if you fail the October exam, you’ll need to go back to school and join a new group of teacher trainees to qualify for the new professional exams starting in 2026.

What You Need to Know:

October 2025 is your last chance to write any resit papers under the old GTLE format.
From 2026, a new professional teacher licensure system will take over.
If you don’t pass in October, you must start over with new teacher trainees in an accredited college.
