Over 600 Brilliant but Needy Students Benefit from Jomoro MP’s Scholarship Programme

Education is one of the strongest tools for community development and poverty reduction. In Jomoro, efforts are being made to ensure that no child is left behind because of financial challenges. Through the leadership of the area’s Member of Parliament, a life-changing scholarship initiative is giving hope to hundreds of students and families.
More than 600 brilliant but needy students from 111 public and private schools in the Jomoro Constituency have received financial support through the Member of Parliament’s Scholarship Initiative. The programme aims to promote equal access to quality education and support students from less privileged backgrounds to achieve their dreams.
The presentation ceremony took place at Bonyere Junction and brought together chiefs, queen mothers, constituency executives, parents, security officers, and hundreds of students. The gathering was filled with excitement and appreciation as the community celebrated this remarkable educational support.
Now in its second edition, the scholarship project shows the MP’s continuous commitment to education, empowerment, and social inclusion. It is designed to ensure that financial struggles do not prevent hardworking students from continuing their education.
Speaking at the event, the Member of Parliament for Jomoro and Deputy Minister for Transport, Hon. Dorcas Toffey, emphasized her dedication to promoting education as a key factor in development. She said investing in young people’s education is one of the best ways to secure the future of the constituency and bridge the gap between the rich and the poor.
The traditional leaders, led by the Paramount Chief and the Traditional Council of Jomoro, commended the MP for her continuous efforts to promote education in the area. They also encouraged parents to motivate their children to take advantage of the opportunity and work hard in school.
The event was also attended by the Western Regional Minister, Regional Chairman, and several other dignitaries. They praised the initiative as an example of true leadership driven by compassion and service.
For many families in Jomoro, this scholarship means more than financial assistance — it represents renewed hope and a brighter future. The programme is expected to lessen the financial burden on parents, reduce school dropouts, and inspire students to reach higher academic goals.
