E-Levy, Betting Tax, and Other Levies Expected to Be Canceled on This Date, Check Here – Gh Edu Pro
Ghanaians may soon witness major tax policy changes as the Minister of Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, prepares to present the 2025 Budget to Parliament on March 11, 2025.
This date has been proposed by the Ministry of Finance for parliamentary consideration, though it remains subject to approval. Based on Ghana’s Financial Administration Act, the budget must be presented before March 31, 2025.
Expected Tax Cancellations
During the budget reading on March 10, 2025, the Finance Minister is expected to announce the cancellation of certain taxes, including:
- E-Levy (Electronic Transactions Levy)
- Betting Tax
- Other levies that have been a burden on businesses and individuals
If these taxes are scrapped, it will bring relief to many Ghanaians, particularly those who engage in mobile money transactions and online betting.
Government’s Expenditure Plan
Earlier this year, in January 2025, Parliament approved an Expenditure in Advance of Appropriation (Mini Budget) to allow the government to function from January to March 2025. This approval granted the John Mahama administration an amount of GH₵68.1 billion to cover expenses within this period.
With the full 2025 budget presentation set for March 10, all eyes will be on the Finance Minister to see if these tax cancellations will be officially confirmed and approved by Parliament. If implemented, it could mark a significant shift in Ghana’s economic policies.
