Colleges of Education Admission Requirements and How to Apply for the 2026/2027 Academic Year

Admission Requirements for Colleges of Education

Applicants who want to study in the Colleges of Education must have results from either WASSCE or SSSCE.

WASSCE Applicants

Applicants with WASSCE results must have Credit Passes (A1 – C6) in the following subjects:

  • Two core subjects, including English Language and Social Studies
  • Three credit passes in relevant elective subjects

This means the applicant must have at least five credit passes, including English Language and Social Studies.

SSSCE Applicants

Applicants who wrote SSSCE must also meet the following requirements:

  • Credit Passes (A – D) in two core subjects, including English Language and Social Studies
  • Credit passes in three relevant elective subjects

Meeting these requirements makes the applicant eligible to apply to any of the Colleges of Education in Ghana.

Admission Requirements for Hearing-Impaired Applicants

Special study facilities for hearing-impaired students are available at Presbyterian College of Education, Akropong.

WASSCE Applicants

Hearing-impaired applicants with WASSCE results must have:

  • Credit passes (A1 – C6) in three core subjects, including English Language, Mathematics, and either Integrated Science or Social Studies
  • Credit passes in three relevant elective subjects

SSSCE Applicants

Hearing-impaired applicants with SSSCE results must have:

  • Credit passes (A – D) in three core subjects, including English Language and Mathematics
  • Credit passes in three relevant elective subjects

These requirements allow hearing-impaired students to also receive teacher training and contribute to education in Ghana.

How to Apply for Colleges of Education Admission (2026/2027)

Applicants must first purchase an application voucher before starting the online application process.

The cost of the application form is GHS 350.00.

Payment at the Bank

Applicants can pay Three Hundred and Fifty Ghana Cedis (GHS350.00) into the Colleges of Education Ghana Account at any branch of Consolidated Bank Ghana.

Payment Through Mobile Money

Applicants can also make payment through Mobile Money using:

  • MTN Mobile Money
  • Telecel (Vodafone) Cash
  • Tigo Cash
  • Airtel Money

To pay using mobile money, dial:

*924*8#

After successful payment, applicants will receive the following details:

  • Personal Identification Number (PIN)
  • Admission Application Serial Number
  • Admission Website Address

These details will be used to complete the online application form.

Steps to Complete the Online Application

Applicants should visit the official admission portal:

https://admission.coeportal.edu.gh

Using the PIN and Serial Number, applicants can log in and fill out the online application form.

Before completing the form, applicants should carefully read all instructions. They should also make sure they understand the programmes offered in each college.

Applicants are required to select:

  • First choice college
  • Second choice college
  • Third choice college

These choices should be arranged according to their preference.

Applicants must also select one Ghanaian language offered in the college they choose.

Printing and Sending the Application Form

After completing the online application, applicants must print a copy of the completed form.

The printed form must be sent together with:

  • One passport photograph
  • Copies of result slips (if available)

These documents should be placed in an EMS Priority Envelope, which can be obtained from any Ghana Post Office nationwide.

The envelope should be addressed to the Principal of the applicant’s first-choice College of Education.

Important Information for Applicants

Applicants will receive an SMS notification confirming that their application has been received. For this reason, applicants must provide correct and active phone numbers when filling the application form.

Successful applicants will also receive their admission offer through SMS on the phone number they provided during the application process.

It is important to note that the Colleges of Education will verify all results with the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).

Any applicant who submits fake or falsified documents will face serious legal consequences.
