Ghana Immigration Service Recruitment Requirements – 2025

Joining the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) is a dream for many young Ghanaians. However, every applicant must meet certain requirements before being considered.

Category A: General Duties (Graduate Entry)
This category is for applicants who have a university degree.
You must:
- Be a Ghanaian by birth with no criminal record.
- Have a first degree (at least Second Class Lower).
- Have completed National Service.
- Be between 18 and 35 years old by 1st November 2025.
- Be physically and medically fit.
- Be of good character and not bonded by any organisation.
- Must not have been dismissed from any public institution.
- Meet the minimum height:
- 1.68m (5ft 6in) for males
- 1.57m (5ft 2in) for females

Category B: General Duties (Non-Graduate Entry / Recruits)
This is for applicants with HND, Diploma, WASSCE, SSSCE, or Certificate.
You must:
- Be a Ghanaian by birth.
- Have at least five passes or credits, including English and Mathematics.
- Be between 18 and 32 years old by 1st November 2025.
- Be physically and medically fit.
- Be of good character, not bonded, and not dismissed from any public job.
- Meet the same minimum height requirement.
Category C: Medical Staff
This category covers Doctors, Nurses, Pharmacists, Psychologists, and Physician Assistants.
Doctors
- Must have MB ChB or an equivalent qualification.
- Must be registered with the Medical & Dental Council.
Nurses
- Must have a Nursing Certificate.
- Must be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
Psychologists
- Must have the required professional qualification and be licensed.
Pharmacists
- Must have at least a first degree and be licensed by the Pharmacy Council.
Physician Assistants
- Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Physician Assistantship.
- Must be registered with the Medical & Dental Council.
Category D: Religious Affairs
Ordained Ministers / Chaplains
- Must have a degree in Theology.
- Must be in good standing within an approved Christian body.
Imams
- Must have a degree in Islamic Studies with excellent knowledge of Arabic.
- Must be accepted by a recognized Muslim body.
Category E: Tradesmen / Artisans
For people with technical and vocational skills.
General Requirements
- Must be Ghanaian by birth.
- Have BECE, WASSCE, SSSCE, NVTI, COTVET, City & Guilds, or Technical Certificate.
- Be 18–35 years old by 1st November 2025.
- Be physically and medically fit.
- Be of good character.
- Meet the minimum height requirement.
Specific Trades
1. Estates and Projects
- Masons: At least 2 years of practical experience; must understand basic building plans.
- Electricians: Skilled in wiring, repairs, installations, and maintenance.
- Plumbers: Able to install and repair pipes, valves, heaters, and read diagrams.
- Carpenters: Skilled in wooden structures, roofing, fittings, and reading drawings.
2. Transport
- Drivers: Must have a valid DVLA license (A, B, C, D, or F) and at least 3 years of experience.
- Emergency Drivers: Must also be certified EMTs.
- Mechanics: Must know vehicle repair and diagnostics.
- Welders, Auto Electricians, Sprayers, AC Repairers: Need at least 2 years of experience.
3. Tailors
- Must know garment construction, uniform sewing, measurement, and pattern cutting.
4. Communication Technicians
- Must operate and repair communication equipment, ICT systems, and radio networks.
5. Computer Hardware Technicians
- Must know computer assembly, repairs, printers, troubleshooting, and networking basics.
6. Sports
- Must be skilled in football, volleyball, basketball, table tennis, athletics, or arm wrestling.
- Being part of a recognized sports club is an advantage.
7. Band
- Must be able to read music and play at least one instrument.
8. Auxiliary Staff
- Must be 18–35 years old, able to read and write, and physically fit.
