PRINCOF Announces ‘New’ Resumption Date for Public Colleges of Education

The National Conference of Principals of Colleges of Education, Ghana (PRINCOF), has announced a change in the reopening date for all public Colleges of Education across the country.

According to an official letter issued by PRINCOF, the earlier resumption date of Monday, 19th January 2026, has now been postponed to Monday, 9th February 2026.

Why the Date Was Changed

PRINCOF explained that the decision was taken to allow colleges enough time to prepare properly before students and staff return to campus. The extra weeks will help schools complete important internal arrangements needed for effective teaching and learning.

These preparations include administrative planning, academic scheduling, and other institutional activities that support a smooth start to the semester.

What This Means for Students

For students, this means:

  • There is no resumption in January as earlier announced
  • Students are expected to report to campus on 9th February 2026
  • Academic plans, travel arrangements, and personal schedules should be adjusted to reflect the new date

Students are encouraged to stay in touch with their college authorities and follow official communication channels for any further updates.

What Staff and College Authorities Should Do

PRINCOF has asked all principals to officially inform their staff and students about the new resumption date. Colleges are also expected to adjust their academic calendars and administrative plans accordingly.

PRINCOF Appeals for Understanding

PRINCOF acknowledged that the change may cause some inconvenience, but appealed to all stakeholders for patience and cooperation. The leadership emphasized its commitment to maintaining high standards in teacher education in Ghana.

In Summary

  • Old resumption date: 19th January 2026
  • New resumption date: 9th February 2026
  • Affected institutions: All public Colleges of Education in Ghana

Students and staff are advised to rely only on official notices to avoid confusion and misinformation.
