A New Dawn for Education: NDC’s Vision for a Brighter Future.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has unveiled a bold vision for Ghana’s education system, promising to eliminate academic fees for first-year university students and extend the Free Senior High School policy to private schools.
These statements were made during the NDC Youth Manifesto launch at UPSA, Accra.
Imagine a Ghana where every student can pursue their dreams without financial burden.
Festus Mwingsong Akyuuro, a member of the NDC Youth Manifesto team, emphasized the need for improved funding in secondary education. “We can’t claim to be improving education without putting our money where our mouth is. It’s time to put proper financing behind our promises.”

Former President John Mahama has committed to revolutionizing Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) with modern facilities, including fabrication laboratories equipped with 3D printers.
The “No Fees Stress” initiative promises to eliminate academic fees for all first-year university students. Akyuuro shared, “We’ve seen students with 7As struggle to fund their education. Those days are behind us. We’re ending the stress and uncertainty.”
The NDC also plans to revitalize the student loan scheme, supporting students who cannot afford their fees after their first year.
Akyuuro noted, “We have students struggling to access public basic schools, while private senior high schools sit empty. Let’s educate them at the same cost and give them a fair chance.”
With these pledges, the NDC is poised to transform Ghana’s education landscape, empowering students and shaping a brighter future for the nation. As Akyuuro said, “Education is the key to unlocking Ghana’s potential. Let’s unlock it together.”
