Final-Year Teaching Practice Teacher Trainees Attacked in Gambaga College of Education; One Dead, Another Injured – Gh Edu Pro

A tragic incident occurred in Gambaga late Wednesday night, March 12, 2025, when two final-year students from Gambaga College of Education, who were undergoing teaching practice, were attacked by armed assailants.

The attack happened around 11:30 PM, resulting in the death of one of the students, identified as Salifu, while the other sustained severe gunshot injuries.

Reports indicate that the two students had just returned from a DSTV viewing center, where they had watched the UEFA Champions League match between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid. As they stood outside their residence discussing the game, unidentified gunmen riding a motorbike approached them. The attackers, after confirming their identities, fired at close range before speeding off.

Law enforcement officers arrived at the crime scene shortly after the attack. The deceased’s body was transported to the morgue, while the injured student was rushed to a medical facility and remains in critical condition.

This shooting comes just two weeks after an attempted attack on another Kusasi student in Gambaga. Fortunately, that incident did not result in any harm.

According to CitiNews,   these attacks may be connected to the prolonged chieftaincy conflict in Bawku, which has led to tensions spreading across different areas.

Authorities are currently probing the incident to bring the perpetrators to justice and restore security in the area.
