The National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) has announced a demonstration against the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) over problems with the 2024 WASSCE results.
According to NUGS, some students’ results have been withheld or canceled, affecting their education.
The demonstration will take place on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at 9:00 AM, starting at Obra Spot, Circle, Accra.
Why is NUGS Protesting?
NUGS believes that WAEC’s actions have unfairly affected thousands of students. Many students could not apply for admission into public universities because their results were delayed.
Others whose results were canceled cannot register for remedial exams because WAEC had already closed registration on January 7, 2025.
In a statement, NUGS President Daniel Korley Botchway said:
“This demonstration is a protest against what we see as an injustice and an abuse of discretionary power by WAEC.”
NUGS is calling on students, parents, and concerned stakeholders to join them in demanding justice for affected students.
What is NUGS Demanding?
NUGS wants urgent intervention to correct the situation and ensure that all students get a fair opportunity to continue their education.
