TUSAAG Announces Possible Nationwide Strike Over Unpaid Allowances – Gh Edu Pro
The Technical University Senior Administrators Association of Ghana (TUSAAG) has announced that it may embark on a nationwide strike if the government does not address the issue of unpaid allowances.
The association made this known in a letter dated 8th September 2024 to the National Labour Commission.
In May 2024, the Ministry of Finance instructed that revised allowances for senior staff of public universities should be implemented.

However, TUSAAG claims that despite an agreement signed in July 2024, these revised allowances have not been paid.
The association believes this refusal violates their rights and breaches the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) they signed with the government.
TUSAAG also accuses the government of unfair treatment by failing to pay common allowances that have been given to other unions within public universities. This includes allowances for things like vehicle maintenance, off-campus travel, fuel, utility bills, and security.
TUSAAG has given the government until the end of September 2024 to make all necessary payments. If these allowances are not reflected in the salaries of its members by the end of September 2024, the association has threatened to launch a nationwide strike next week.
In their statement, the association stressed that they will not accept any further delays and will take action until all allowances are fully paid.
This potential strike could significantly affect the operations of technical universities across Ghana if no solution is reached soon.
