NSS Placement Alert: Over 30,000 Graduates Blocked Due to Ghana Card and School Record Mismatch! 

 

The National Service Scheme (NSS) has revealed that thousands of graduates are facing challenges with their placement due to errors in their personal details.

According to the Deputy Director General of the NSS, Mr. Fuseini Donko, more than 30,000 students have been blocked by the system because their Ghana Card details do not match their school records.

Speaking on Joy Prime’s morning show on 29th October 2025, Mr. Donko explained that the NSS system automatically checks every applicant’s details using the Ghana Card database. If a person’s name or date of birth on the Ghana Card is different from what appears on their school records, the system immediately blocks them. “If your date of birth and name on your Ghana Card don’t match what’s on your school records, the system blocks you. This issue affects over 30,000 students,” he said.

He added that this problem has delayed the placement process for many graduates who are supposed to begin their national service soon. The mismatch usually happens because some students use different spellings of their names or different dates of birth when registering for school and when applying for their Ghana Cards.

Mr. Donko advised all prospective national service personnel to check their records carefully and make sure that the information on their Ghana Card matches their school documents. This includes checking the order of names, spelling, and date of birth.

He also encouraged those affected to visit NSS regional offices for assistance in resolving the issue as soon as possible to avoid further delays in their postings.

The National Service Scheme has been working closely with the National Identification Authority (NIA) to find ways to correct such mismatches quickly. However, students are reminded that it is their responsibility to ensure their personal information is consistent across all official records.

This development serves as a wake-up call to all final-year students and future graduates to verify their documents early before national service registration begins.
