PRINCOF Official Second Semester Vacation Date for Teacher Trainees
The National Conference of Principals of Colleges of Education (PRINCOF) has released the revised academic calendar for the 2025/2026 academic year for all public Colleges of Education in Ghana. The revised calendar provides important dates and activities for teacher trainees across all levels, including reporting dates, examination periods, vacation dates, and reopening dates.
One of the key highlights of the calendar is the official second semester vacation date for teacher trainees. According to PRINCOF, all students in Levels 100, 200, 300, and 400 will officially go on vacation on 22nd August, 2026, after the completion of their second semester examinations.
The revised academic calendar also outlines several activities that have already taken place during the academic year. Level 400 students reported to their respective colleges on 1st November, 2025 for orientation ahead of their Macro Teaching programme. A week later, on 8th November, 2025, the students reported to their assigned schools to begin their Macro Teaching exercise.
For Levels 100, 200, and 300 students, the first session of the first semester began on 11th November, 2025, when students reported to campus to commence academic work. After six weeks of lectures and academic activities, students went home for the Christmas break on 20th December, 2025.
The second session of the first semester resumed on 8th February, 2026, when Levels 100, 200, and 300 students returned to campus to continue their studies. Academic activities continued until the first semester examinations, which were conducted from 13th April to 24th April, 2026. Following the examinations, students went home for vacation on 25th April, 2026.
Meanwhile, the Macro Teaching programme for Level 400 students ended on 14th March, 2026, marking the completion of an important practical component of their teacher education programme. Afterwards, all students across the various levels reported back to campus on 18th May, 2026 to begin the second semester of the academic year.

According to the revised calendar, the second semester is expected to run for fourteen weeks. During this period, students will complete lectures, assignments, practical activities, and other academic requirements before sitting for their end-of-semester examinations.
PRINCOF has scheduled the second semester examinations for all Levels 100, 200, 300, and 400 students to take place from 10th August to 21st August, 2026. These examinations will mark the end of academic activities for the semester and will determine students’ progression to the next level of study.
After the examinations, all teacher trainees will officially proceed on vacation. The calendar clearly indicates that 22nd August, 2026 is the official date on which students will leave campus for their long vacation.
For continuing students in Levels 100, 200, and 300, the date marks the beginning of their vacation period before returning to school for the next academic year. However, for Level 400 students, the date carries even greater significance. Since they would have completed all academic requirements, teaching practice activities, and examinations, 22nd August, 2026, effectively marks the completion of their studies in the Colleges of Education.
As a result, the date serves a dual purpose. It is both the official vacation date for continuing students and the completion date for final-year teacher trainees who are expected to graduate after fulfilling all institutional requirements.
PRINCOF has also announced that Levels 100, 200, and 300 students are expected to return to campus on 12th October, 2026, for the commencement of the next academic year. Students are therefore advised to take note of the reopening date and make adequate preparations before returning to campus.
Teacher trainees are encouraged to carefully follow the academic calendar and make the necessary travel, accommodation, and financial arrangements ahead of the vacation period. Students should also ensure that they complete all academic obligations before leaving campus.
The release of the revised academic calendar provides clarity for students, tutors, college administrators, and other stakeholders regarding the remaining activities for the 2025/2026 academic year. It also allows students to plan effectively for examinations, vacations, and future academic commitments.
