“I Was Just Testing the Gun”: Confusion at Adventist SHS as Student Shoots Two Classmates
A sad and shocking event happened at the Seventh-Day Adventist Senior High School (Adventist SHS) in Bantama, Ashanti Region, on Friday, April 4, 2025. A student brought a gun to school and shot two of his classmates.
The student, Bernard Amoabeng, who is in Form Two, reportedly brought the gun during break time. Some students were arguing about whether the gun was real or fake.

To prove that the gun was real, Bernard is said to have pulled the trigger. Sadly, the gun fired and hurt two students.
One of the students, known as Penamang, was badly hurt in the forehead. She was first taken to Kwadaso Hospital but was later moved to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital because her condition was very serious. She is now receiving special care there.
The second student, whose name is not known yet, was also injured. The details of that person’s injury are still not clear.

Right after the incident, the Suame Police came in and arrested Bernard Amoabeng. They have started a full investigation to find out how he got the gun and why he brought it to school.
This scary event has made many people-students, parents, and the community-worried about safety in schools. People are now calling for better security, more counseling, and guidance to help prevent such things from happening again.

The school is working with the police, but no official statement has been made yet.
