Curriculum Review Committee Presents Revised KG to Primary Six Curriculum to Education Minister

The Curriculum Review Committee has presented a revised curriculum for Kindergarten (KG) to Primary Six to the Minister for Education, Mr. Haruna Iddrisu. The presentation took place on Wednesday in Accra.

 

The revised curriculum is aimed at improving the quality of education in Ghana and preparing learners with the knowledge and skills they need for the future.

 

One of the biggest changes is the introduction of Civic Education. This subject will help pupils understand their rights, responsibilities, and the importance of being good citizens.

 

The new curriculum also introduces Artificial Intelligence (AI) Literacy, Computational Thinking, Coding, and Digital Citizenship. These subjects are expected to help children develop digital skills from an early age and prepare them for a technology-driven world.

 

In addition, the curriculum includes Arabic and Chinese as optional languages. Pupils who are interested in learning these languages will have the opportunity to do so in schools that offer them.

 

Speaking during the presentation, the committee explained that the revised curriculum is designed to meet modern educational needs and ensure that Ghanaian pupils are equipped with practical skills for the future.

 

The Ministry of Education is expected to review the document before announcing when the new curriculum will be implemented in schools across the country.
