Teacher Trainees Receive Second Semester Allowance for 2024, Check Here – Gh Edu Pro
According to national TTAG President One month allowance has been paid.
Teacher trainees in various Colleges of Education across Ghana have finally received their second-semester allowance for the 2024 academic year.
The government has disbursed one month’s worth of allowances, which amounts to GHC 400 per trainee. However, just like previous payments, a 50% deduction (GHC 200) has been made by the respective colleges to cover feeding fees.
Additionally, further deductions have been made, leaving each trainee with only GHC 150 in cash for personal use.
It is important to note that this payment has been made to trainees at all levels, except for the newly admitted Level 100 students, who just reported to their various colleges in January 2025. Since these fresh trainees are new to the system, they have not yet been captured in the allowance payment structure, meaning they will have to wait for future payments once their details are processed.

Uncertainty Over Future Payments Under the New Government
While many trainees are relieved to receive their allowances, there is growing concern about the future of the allowance policy under the new administration. With H.E John Dramani Mahama elected as the new President of Ghana, some teacher trainees are unsure whether the allowance will continue or be replaced with a different system.

It will be recalled that during his previous administration, former President Mahama replaced the teacher trainee allowance with a student loan scheme, a decision that sparked debates among students and stakeholders in the education sector. Given this history, some trainees fear that the new government might review or discontinue the current allowance system.
