TTAG Praises Government for Paying Three Months of Teacher Trainee Allowances

The Teacher Trainees’ Association of Ghana (TTAG) has shown appreciation to the Government of Ghana for paying three months of allowance arrears to teacher trainees.

The payment, which was made on Tuesday, April 8th, 2025, covers arrears for the 2023/2024 academic year.

According to TTAG, this payment shows that the government is committed to helping teacher trainees and supporting education in Ghana.

In their words, “This recent disbursement… demonstrates the Government’s commitment to supporting teacher trainees and acknowledges their critical role in shaping Ghana’s education sector.”

TTAG explained that many trainees have been going through financial difficulties, and the payment is a big relief. They added that it proves the government truly cares about the training and future of teachers in the country. “The government’s commitment to supporting teacher trainees is evident in this payment,” the statement said.

While praising the government, TTAG also used the opportunity to call on the Ministry of Education, Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC), and Student Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) to release the allowances for the first semester of the 2024/2025 academic year, which is almost over.

TTAG believes that quick and full payment is very important for the smooth training of teachers.

“Timely and full payment of these allowances are essential for the sustainable support and development of Teacher Trainees in the Public Colleges of Education,” they emphasized.

TTAG concluded by saying they are hopeful that the government will continue to support teacher trainees. “We remain hopeful that this supportive trend will continue, reinforcing a strong commitment to investing in the future leaders of our nation’s education system,” the statement added.
