Electoral Commission Explains Delay in Paying 2024 Election Workers, Check Here
The Electoral Commission of Ghana has released a memo to explain why some people who worked during the 2024 General Election have not been paid yet.
The memo was sent from the Deputy Chairman in charge of Corporate Services to all Returning Officers and Temporary Staff who worked during the elections.
The memo was dated 26th May 2025, and the subject was clearly stated as: “Delays in the Payment of Allowances.”
The Commission began the message with a warm greeting:
“I bring you greetings from the Head Office of the Electoral Commission and trust this memo finds you well.”
They explained that the delay in payment is because they haven’t received the needed funds from the Ministry of Finance. The memo stated:
“The Commission wishes to bring to the attention of all Temporary Officials engaged in the 2024 General Election that payments have not been made because the Commission is yet to receive the funds from the Ministry of Finance.”
However, there is some hope. The Ministry of Finance has promised to send the money soon. The memo said:
“The Ministry has, however, assured the Commission that funds will be released soon to enable the Commission to settle your payments.”
The Commission also said sorry for the delay and thanked the workers for their support and professionalism. They added:
“We apologize again for the delay and take opportunity to express our gratitude to you for your commitment and professionalism, which contributed to the successful outcome of the 2024 General Election.”
This memo helps explain the reason for the delay and shows that efforts are being made to solve the issue. We hope all those who worked hard during the election will receive their payment soon.
