Update on Payment of Teacher Trainees’ Allowance
Teacher trainees across the country are still waiting patiently for the payment of their allowance arrears. Many students have raised concerns about the delay, as the allowance helps them to support their daily needs, transportation, feeding, and academic expenses in school.
The Teacher Trainees’ Association of Ghana (TTAG) has assured teacher trainees that efforts are being made to ensure that the delayed allowance arrears are released as soon as possible. TTAG stated that they are working hard and engaging the relevant authorities, especially the Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF), to make sure payments are made.
The delay in the payment has brought worry among many trainees, especially those who depend heavily on the allowance for survival on campus. Some students say the situation has made life difficult because prices of goods and transportation continue to increase.
Meanwhile, no fee stress reimbursement is currently ongoing for first-year students. This has also become another concern for many newly admitted trainees who expected support to reduce their financial burden.
Teacher trainees are hopeful that the government and the responsible institutions will respond quickly to their concerns. Many students are appealing for patience among their colleagues while waiting for official communication on the payment date.
TTAG continues to encourage teacher trainees to remain calm and focused on their academic work while discussions continue to ensure the allowance arrears are paid soon.
