Ghana Police Service arrests suspect involved in internet fraud and human trafficking

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested a 29-year-old Cameroonian woman named Bella Merie for her involvement in internet fraud and human trafficking.
The arrest took place on Monday, April 7, 2025, at 9:00 am, at a residence located at Kenyasi Abirem in the Ashanti Region.
According to the police, Bella Merie was arrested together with forty-three (43) other Cameroonians. Investigations show that she collected a total of four million, five hundred thousand CFA Francs (4,500,000 CFA) from her victims. These victims included thirty-two (32) males and eleven (11) females. She tricked them by promising to help them get jobs in Ghana, but it turned out to be a scam.

Further investigation revealed that she carried out this fraud using a known online scam method called Q-NET. This is a popular way that fraudsters use to deceive people, especially by offering fake employment opportunities.
All individuals involved in the case-both the suspect and the victims-are between the ages of twenty-two (22) and thirty-eight (38). They have all been handed over to the Ghana Immigration Service at the Regional Headquarters. The Immigration Service will now handle the necessary processes to send them back to their home country.
