Security Services Recruitment: One Protocol Man Arrested for Scamming Applicants

The Government of Ghana has taken strong action against people who are cheating others in the ongoing police and security services recruitment.
The Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak, has confirmed that one person has been arrested for selling fake recruitment slots into the security services. The suspect was caught for taking money from people with the promise of helping them get into the Ghana Police Service and other security agencies.
The Minister made this announcement when he visited some police recruitment screening centres in Accra on Monday, January 12, 2026.
Recruitment Is Based on Merit Only
Speaking to the public, the Minister made it very clear that nobody can buy their way into the security services. He said recruitment into the Police, Armed Forces, Immigration, Fire Service, and Prisons Service will be based on merit, not money or connections.
He warned that the old way of people sitting at home and paying middlemen to get recruited is over. “That system is finished. Under President John Mahama, nobody will be allowed to cheat the system,” he said.
He also sent a strong message to online scammers who pretend they can help people get recruited. “Those who are deceiving people online should be careful. We arrested one person over the weekend and he is now in police custody. We are watching closely,” the Minister added.
Government Is Watching Closely
The Minister explained that the government is closely monitoring the recruitment process to make sure everything is done properly. Anyone who tries to cheat the system will be arrested and punished.
This is a strong warning to people who take money from innocent applicants. Many young Ghanaians are looking for jobs in the security services, and scammers are using this opportunity to cheat them.
Screening Continues in the Regions
At Damongo Senior High School in the Savannah Region, about 238 graduate applicants are expected to take part in the screening on the first day.
The screening includes:
- Checking of documents
- Body and physical inspection
- Verification of personal details
Only those who meet all the requirements will be selected to continue.
Advice to Applicants
The government is urging all applicants to follow the right process. No one should pay money to anyone who claims they can help them pass the screening.
If you are truly qualified, you will be selected without paying a pesewa.
Final Words
This arrest shows that the government is serious about stopping recruitment fraud. The security services belong to all Ghanaians, and only honest and qualified people should be allowed to join.
Anyone who tries to cheat the system will face the law.
Stay alert, avoid scammers, and trust the official process.
