The Principals of the 47 Colleges of Education in Ghana are asking the government to raise the monthly allowance for teacher trainees. The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced a new timetable for the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE). In a letter dated 24th April, 2025, GES informed all Regional Directors of Education that the final timetable for BECE has been released. The exam will now be held from Wednesday, 11th June to Wednesday, 18th June, 2025. This change was made after the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) reviewed the original schedule. The government has decided to end the teacher licensure exams in Ghana. This change will allow for a new way to qualify teachers.
