Government Declares 6th June 2025 a Public Holiday
According to a statement signed by Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, the Minister for the Interior, the holiday is statutory, meaning it is officially recognized by law and should be observed all across the country.
The Government of Ghana has announced that Friday, 6th June 2025, will be a public holiday. This day marks the celebration of Eid-Ul-Adha, one of the most important festivals in the Islamic calendar.
Eid-Ul-Adha is also known as the Festival of Sacrifice. It reminds Muslims of the story of Prophet Ibrahim, who was willing to sacrifice his son to obey God. On this day, many Muslims attend special prayers and share food with family, friends, and the poor.
All Ghanaians, regardless of their religion, are encouraged to respect the day and join in the spirit of peace, love, and unity.
Let us all enjoy the holiday in a peaceful and safe way.
Happy Eid-Ul-Adha in advance!
