SLTF Ends Delay in Student Loan Payments – Says CEO Dr. Shiraz
Good news for students! The c (SLTF) says the days of delay in paying student loans are finally over.
During the launch of the No Fees Stress policy in Koforidua on Friday, July 4, the CEO of SLTF, Dr. Saajida Shiraz, said things have changed for the better. She made it clear that the trust fund now pays student loans on time and has regained the trust of students and schools.
I“The days where SLTF approved students for loans it could not give is over,” Dr. Shiraz said. “The nonchalance that characterised the shameful failure to meet core mandate obligations are a thing of the past.”
Over 38,000 Students Paid Already
According to Dr. Shiraz, loans for the first semester of the 2024/2025 academic year have been paid to 38,440 students in 145 public and private tertiary schools.

Even more exciting, second-semester loans have now started being paid — for the first time in four years!
“Exactly three days ago, we paid second-semester loans to 19,703 students across 135 public and private institutions,” she shared.
Support From Government and GETFund
Dr. Shiraz gave thanks to the government, especially President John Dramani Mahama, for making education financing a priority. She also thanked the GETFund Administrator for giving the needed funds to make loan payments possible.
“My appreciation goes to the GETFund Administrator for prioritising the President’s tertiary education financing reset agenda,” she added.
More Help Coming for Students
SLTF has promised to keep supporting students through the No Fees Stress policy by being quick with loan payments and increasing help for more students.
“We are ready to continue delivering on all parts of the No Fees Stress policy,” Dr. Shiraz assured.
This is a big step in the right direction. Students can now worry less about fees and focus more on their studies.
