The Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF), under the Ministry of Education, has announced a new support measure to help newly admitted first-year students secure their admissions without worrying about immediate fee payments.
The support is being provided under the Government’s No Academic Fees Policy for the 2026/2027 academic year.
According to the SLTF, some public universities and public technical universities are asking newly admitted students to pay part of their fees by a deadline before their admission can be confirmed. However, the government’s support under the No Academic Fees Policy is paid after institutions submit students’ admission information and the details are properly verified.
Because this process may take some time, the Students Loan Trust Fund will provide bridge financing to eligible first-year students who need immediate financial support.
How the Support Will Work
Under the arrangement, an eligible student who needs financial assistance can apply through the No-Fees-Stress Portal.
The Students Loan Trust Fund will then advance the required fee deposit directly to the student’s tertiary institution. This will help the student secure their admission and avoid losing their place because of a fee-payment deadline.
The amount advanced by the Fund will later be reconciled with the academic fee support the student is entitled to receive under the No Academic Fees Policy.
Who Can Apply?
The support is mainly for newly admitted first-year students of public universities and public technical universities who require immediate financial assistance to confirm their admission.
Students who are facing a payment deadline are therefore encouraged to apply promptly instead of waiting until the deadline has passed.
Apply Through the No-Fees-Stress Portal
Students who need the support can apply through the official No-Fees-Stress Portal at:
https://nofeesstress.gov.gh
The initiative is intended to ensure that eligible students do not lose their admission simply because the government’s fee support has not yet been processed.
The Students Loan Trust Fund also expressed appreciation to the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC), Vice-Chancellors Ghana, Vice-Chancellors of Technical Universities, and the leadership of public tertiary institutions for their cooperation.
Important Notice to Newly Admitted Students
If you have gained admission to a public university or public technical university and you are required to make an immediate fee deposit to secure your admission, you should take note of this support.
Do not wait until your payment deadline has passed. Eligible students are encouraged to apply through the No-Fees-Stress Portal as soon as possible.
The SLTF says the initiative is part of efforts to reduce financial pressure on students and make sure that financial difficulties do not prevent eligible students from accessing tertiary education.
Congratulations to all newly admitted students, and we wish you success in your academic journey.
